Discord purge - Inori - 03-14-2017
I (and no doubt other staff) have been doing a lot of deleting messages/kicking/banning on the Discord server lately due to randos that aren't registered here who decide to be annoying by spamming and through other means. Additonally, there's a shitton of people on the server who I've never seen talk, bots that have never been used, and tons of people who don't conform to the matching username guideline.
For the sake of everyone's sanity, we need to do a purge that consisting of revoking all invite codes and generating new ones when needed (preventing more randos from joining) as well as kicking any non-SL members and bots. It'll take some time to do, but it's definitely worth it.

from what i have seen in the discord, these non-members are generally very obnoxious and don't have actual conversations, mostly shitposting.

yall should make the discord button available only to registered users and set up a bot that checks if any users joining the server have a name that match a forum member if its that big of a deal

Because the Discord is supposed to be a way for forum members to communicate, not somewhere for people we don't know to be obnoxious.

Since this is going on, I'm in the Discord under a different name than I am on SL. But the option to change my nickname just isn't there. I previously joined the discord under an account matching my username, but I no longer have access to it at all. If you could help me with this, thanks.

We're supposed to allow guests. Plenty of people have joined the forum after being on our Discord. I can make it so you have to be a member of the Discord >10 minutes to talk, if you guys want.
