So I recently installed Debian on my laptop, and want to know what programs you guys cant live without, as I'm actually giving it a serious try and want to make my experience more enjoyable. Right now I feel like a tourist.

git, rsync, vim, curl, irssi, netcat, nmap, deluge, python, tor, pidgin, openvpn

Git, python, nano, gedit, XFCE or Awesome, netcat, wget, curl, tor, Discord, conky, firefox, xfce4-terminal or termite, eclipse, WPS Office or LibreOffice, GIMP, openJDK, zsh, oh-my-zsh

Git - Git commands to do stuff with Git repos
Python - Python interpreter,
nano - CLI text editor,
gedit - GUI text editor,
XFCE or Awesome - Desktop/window managers,
netcat - Send TCP packets and requests (like telnet),
wget - wrapper for curl,
curl - For downloading and uploading stuff,
tor - Like a more secure VPN + Browser,
Discord - Discord client for linux,
conky - Desktop applet things (look it up),
Firefox - Web browser,
xfce4-terminal or termite - Terminal emulators,
eclipse - Java IDE - Works for multiple languages,
WPS Office or LibreOffice - Like M$ Office,
GIMP - Like photoshop,
openJDK - Open source java JDK implamentation,
zsh - Better than Bash,
oh-my-zsh - Improves ZSH

metasploit, tor, FF, armitage ... I can't remember others.

i3-gaps - window manager, productivity of i3 but with moar ricing power
rxvt - terminal emulator of my heart
zsh - best shell no exceptions
wget - downloading files
curl - also downloading files
vim - CLI editor that doesn't really count because it already comes with all *NIX systems
gdb and gcc - compiling all the things
firefox (preferably nightly or dev) - best browser but it's a bit slow sometimes
metasploit - im elite, mom
nmap - port scanning
hping3 - packet shenanigans
wireshark and webscarab - more packet shenanigans
tor - reasons
gimp - image editing
libreoffice - Office for FOSS nerds
python - so i can into python

download chrome so you dont have to install flash. Chrome runs it sandboxed

But Arch is better than Kali Linux and you can setup other tools yourself....
I use a lot of Kali tools on Windows and Arch
