Your reasoning of getting a streaming subscription (or not). - Seventh - 12-04-2016

Hey,

First thread really, but wanted to at least started a discussion as I do see some threads relate to this subject.  So here's the question,

If you have an subscription to any video streaming platform, (Crunchyroll, Netflix, Hulu, Daisuki, FUN. ENT. Etc.) why do you pay for it when, in most occasions, the show or series you plan on watching is already somewhere on the internet already set for your streaming pleasure (aka pirated).

-or-

If you don't have a subscription with any video streaming platform, do you feel entitled to possibly starting one instead of what you are currently doing? (Torrenting, Streaming on Unauthorized Sites, Etc.)

Feel free to give your response. I am pretty curious on what everyone will say.

I have Crunchyroll for $7 a month, and love it. Sure you can watch on plenty of streaming sites but its the most convenient, especially for mobile.

Personally, I got Hulu for anime, and Amazon Prime streaming because it came with the student account.

Netflix is focusing too much on their originals.

As for why I dont pirate them, why bother?

With pirating comes unnecessary risk from many forms, and when I can afford a subscription service, I don't mind paying to be legitimate and safe.

I've been In the computational sector for over 20 years, and have never paid for any software (and never will), nor any subscription service.

Why? When I had the time, I was reverse engineering software and nowadays I simply hit the torrents. In terms of subscriptions (streaming), I've never had the need for It. Some may argue to support the developers, but I cannot justify (for example) paying $260 for Microsoft Office Pro 2016. Or paying a yearly "ongoing" subscription fee for an AV that was already purchased to begin with.

Interesting, though the question remains of why? I can agree CR is convenient with their multi-platform application and somewhat decent library, other then that, I don't see people should pay for something that isn't...., well.... permanent except in memory. (Just my opinion, you are feel to do what you are entitled to do by the way.)

I can definitely agree that there are some risks, though there also the risk that streaming services can possible be discontinued. Nothing in general with services such as these really feel any safe to put your faith (aka money) into them.

Kinda what I am technically doing. Though thanks everyone for joining in.

I've had netflix subscription in the past, but in reality what's the point? Nowadays there's so much free online streaming websites that stream in 720p that you don't even have to torrent series (unless you want to watch them offline).

I'm already on a bunch of private trackers with all the content I'd ever need. I don't see a need in using a streaming service for that reason.
Another thing, why pay for what you can get for free with extreme ease? I've never payed for any digital content in my life (other than my Internet connection, obviously)

I have a Netlfix subscription, but they have very little content. Once I watched it all, I'll disable my account.
