Thoughts on forums and software - Virtus - 06-08-2016
Currently on my forums I am using IPB (invision powerboard 4) I was considering switching to mybb, but I wanted to know more so what are the pros / cons into going into mybb (exempting that mybb is more so for advanced users).
Along that question, what is your current favorite software for forums?

I've never really looked into IPB as I was using vBulletin so far so I can only advise you what I like dislike about MyBB from a developers perspective.
Pros:
The plugin system is nice.
As a base it's secure and expandable.
Easy to manage.
Cons:
Templating - Not sure why MyBB never used a templating framework such as twig.
A lot of unnecessary code causing increased loading time.

IPB and MyBB are dead, the best forum software today is Discourse.

I've just taken a look over and it looks a lot more modern than most other BB software. MyBB 2.0 looks like it's being modernized and it will be using the Laravel framework with the twig templating engine if I remember correctly.
