Admin Userbar — Finished Left Behind Work. - yokai - 05-01-2016 ![]() I have an insane amount of un-finished work laying around, so I decided to finish some. Originally I started with this UB around 5 months ago but never finished it. So where is the finished work. Its.. Something at least. RE: Admin Userbar — Finished Left Behind Work. - Jebusfathead - 05-01-2016 Looks really nice, how do you have so much work you just started and then just stopped? I start, then lose interest then throw it in the hell of "things I should be working on but never get around to work on" folder. RE: Admin Userbar — Finished Left Behind Work. - Theós - 05-01-2016 This looks pretty good, but there can be some things to make it better. The base design looks really cool, you should try lighten it up a bit, then add an bevel/emboss, just a bit not way too noticable. This will bring up that nice base you have there, right now its lying in the shadows :C it's beauty should be seen ![]() The userbar is off a bit. If you look at the middle, its shifted abit too far to the right. The ub is balanced just right with the glows, although it would be satisfying to see some more of the big glow shapes that is shown once on each side. Well, while your response is wrong, it does lighten some things up. First of all, never, not under any way use "Bevel and Emboss" in Photoshop. It looks horrible. This userbar uses drop shadow and inner shadow however. The way you noted the lack of that, means I didn't make it apparent enough. As for being off, dunno how you see that. Because Photoshop agree with me when I say that everything shares the exact same spacing in pixels. Meaning its not off center. Then again, its probably like a shelf. It look off when its completely straight. You can't say he is wrong, It's called constructive criticism no need to get so defensive. @10 does gfx and was just pointing out certain points that could help improve your work. Defensive? Saying there is no equivalent to "Bevel and Emboss" when there is, that is wrong. Its like saying it doesn't have color, because there is proof otherwise. If I was being defensive then I would not have stated what I did wrong which was brought into light from his comment, regardless if it was wrong or not. I also didn't comment on his subjective meaning (which BTW, constructive feedback shouldn't contain). The only other thing I commented on was a question, as nothing is off-center. Had it been, then I wouldn't have posted it. (Seeing how I am a perfectionist and nothing I have made the past 5 years have been posted without me going over every individual pixel.) @10 does graphical design, sure. Then again, so do I, with 6 years of experience and 3 years of education. Though experience and education doesn't mean you are right when you are wrong, and in this case what he stated was wrong. That is not helpful in feedback, subjective comments are not constructive feedback, they are what they are. "Well, while your response is wrong, it does lighten some things up. First of all, never, not under any way use "Bevel and Emboss" in Photoshop. It looks horrible." This is an opinion, but okay, it's your design fam Also, I was looking at this design from my phone, the post bit is a bit darker that is why I said you should lighten up the back, but on desktop the black base is fully visible. I still think it could use a slight bevel, because it looks a bit too flat. "As for being off, dunno how you see that. It does have a slight inner shadow and drop shadow, giving off the same effect as "Bevel and Emboss" would, just not as bad. So as I said, I didn't make it visible enough. Though it is there. That was taken into account and I have lighten it up. The "off-center" part, that would be the wrong term. Its not completely mirrored. Though I get your point. RE: Admin Userbar — Finished Left Behind Work. - Kayo - 05-02-2016 In my opinion the font is far too small for a userbar. The A in "Admin" does not blend too well in it's current position, and the userbar just looks excessively bulky. When I switch over to my other monitor things seem too blend a fair bit better due to the contrast differences between my monitors however my other points still stand. |
