Everything you need to know about SiriusForum. - Krados - 02-07-2016

Intro:-
Welcome fellow members!
I present to you a handbook on nearly everything you need to know about the forum. @88 and @95 have taken their time to give the newcomers a handbook on (almost) everything they should know about the forum.

Rules:-
Before even posting, a good-noodle (hopefully you get the reference) must always know the rules.
Please take a brief moment to read the rules, located here. (click me)
Please try to follow the rules, and if you get warned for something you didn't do, try to reason with the mod who warned you in a respectful way. (without resorting to anger.)
Anger usually means more rule breaking and you might get another warning for dealing with the staff team with anger.
You'll might also need to read the help documents (click me) to know more information.

Posting & Replying:-
Of course the main purpose of this site is to post on thread - obvious enough.
If you're really struggling to figure out how to post on Sirius Forum, then keep on reading - I'll walk through some of the ways you can post.

- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you'll see a posting box.
You type in that and when you're done, you can either click on "POST REPLY" or "PREVIEW POST".
Previewing the post will show you how your post will look like.

- You may click on quote on a desired post - clicking on it will bring you to a new reply page where you may then reply to a post.
Please be careful on what you quote - sometimes you may alert a lot of members.
After done typing it out, click on "POST REPLY" and you'll reply to the quoted post.

- An easier way to do that is to click on "MULTI-QUOTE" which will allow you to reply to more than one post at once.
Click on the desired post(s) and then scroll down to the bottom and then click on "Quote these posts now".
You're then free to reply to the post.

- Posting a thread - go to the desired section and then at the top of the page there should be a button named "NEW THREAD".
Clicking on it will ask you to enter a desired name of the thread and then it's up to you what the body of the thread is.
(Body is content, what all this is.)
After you're done making the thread, you have the choice to either "Post Thread", "Preview Post" or "Save as draft".

Credits System:-
What is the credits system?
The credit system was implemented to provide the community with an online currency for purchasing items, betting and it raises member's incentive to post.
You can head to the credits page here (click me).
Here are the ways on how to earn credits:
1 credit     ; per post
3 credits   ; per thread
10 credits ; per referral
? credits   ; receiving a credit donation from another member.
There's also the FlipCoin, our credits-betting plugin! More information can be found here.
What is FlipCoin?
FlipCoin is a custom-built plugin by our plugin-developer. Here is an introduction to the plugin regarding how it works and how you can profit from it.
How does it work?
The plugin works by inputting either heads or tails.You can then choose the amount of credits you want to bet. Currently, there is a restriction of a minimum of 1 and maximum of 100, maybe we'll make it higher for somebody to hit the big jackpot instead of streak-luck.

[The point of upgrading your account is to get custom & special benefits and some customization, or to even feel that warm, fuzzy feeling of being upgraded & supporting the forum.]

Profile Customization:-
There are several ways of customising your profile, such as the first notable feature would be your avatar.
An avatar is a small identifying image shown under the author's name whenever they make a post.
You can change your avatar by going here.
There are also some limits to changing your avatar:
- The maximum dimensions for avatars are: 300x300
- The maximum file size for avatars is 500 KB
- Currently, you can only load your avatar from your device.
- Your avatar must be in one of the following formats: JPEG / PNG / GIF.
- Note: If you load your avatar from your device and the avatar's dimensions are too big, the avatar will be automatically re-sized to fit the maximum dimensions.
You also have the option to change your signature.
For those who don't know what a signature is, a signature is a short message which will automatically be appended to the bottom of your posts after you edit it here.
In order to have a signature, you must follow these guidelines:
- Your signature shouldn't break the forum rules, if done so, your ability to edit your signature might be suspended and you'll be given a warning/ban depending on the incident.
- Maximum length is 255 characters.
However, HTML isn't enabled in your signature while BBCode is.

BBCode Cheatsheet:-
Spoiler:
You may be asking to yourself, "What is BBcode?" - well we have that covered too.
You can use BBCode in your posts to change the desired look of the post, and even give it a fancy look.
Let's start with the spoiler.
It's used to enclose certain information in a box that is opened by clicking a button.

Spoiler:
SiriusForums is a great forum, isn't it?

Spoilers can also be named.
Spoiler: What is SiriusForum?
Bot: SiriusForums is a great forum

This is how you type out a spoiler. (In the following code, X is the name of the spoiler and D is the information you're hiding inside of that spoiler.)

Code:
[Spoiler]D[/Spoiler]

Code:
[Spoiler=X]D[/Spoiler]

Now let's continue into further BBcode.
Let's now look at quotes.
So, this is how quoting something looks like:

Quote:
This text has been quoted

How would I use a quote within my text?

X Wrote:D

Quotes can be under a username. (In the following code, X is the name of the person you're quoting and D is the quote that you're quoting.)

Code:
[Quote]D[/Quote]

Code:
[Quote=X]D[/Quote]

Let's continue further on!
Now let's start with some basic text effects you can add to your text that will eventually make your whole post look much more professional.
Here are your examples!

Bold text
Italic text
Underlined text
Xx-small text
X-small text
Small text
Medium text
Large text
X-large text
Xx-large text

And here's how you do each one of those
.
Code:
[b]Bold text[/b] [i]Italic text[/i] [u]Underlined text[/u] [size=xx-small]Xx-small text[/size] [size=x-small]X-small text[/size] [size=small]Small text[/size] [size=medium]Medium text[/size] [size=large]Large text[/size] [size=x-large]X-large text[/size] [size=xx-large]Xx-large text[/size]

Now let's explore using color in your text.
You can change the color of your text to a certain #hex.
For example, let's say I use #FFFFFF.
My text would look like this.
You can choose from the buttons on the post page, or if you're feeling special, you could choose a custom color and type up.

Code:
[color=#hexcode]text[/color]

Here's an example of a color that's not provided.
You can find hex codes here.

Now let's look at fonts in more depth.
Arial font
Courier font
Impact font
Tahoma font
Times New Roman font
Trebuchet MS
Verdana
Century gothic

Here's how you use each one of these fonts!

Code:
[font=Arial]Arial font[/font] [font=Courier]Courier font[/font] [font=Impact]Impact font[/font] [font=Tahoma]Tahoma font[/font] [font=Times New Roman]Times New Roman font[/font] [font=Trebuchet MS]Trebuchet MS[/font] [font=Verdana]Verdana[/font] [font=Century gothic]Century gothic[/font]

And this is how you align your text.
Align = Left

Align = Center

Align = Right

Align = Justify

Here's what you type to align your text.

Code:
[align=left]Align = Left[/align] [align=center]Align = Center[/align] [align=right]Align = Right[/align] [align=justify]Align = Justify[/align]

Now let's continue on to lists!
Remember, lists can only be aligned to the left, so use them carefully.

  1. List
  2. By
  3. Numbers

Code:
[list=1] [*]List [*]By [*]Numbers [/list]

Here's a bullet(ed) list.
  • A
  • Bullet
  • list

Code:
[list] [*]A [*]Bullet [*]list [/list]

Now let's look into using images in your text.
Here's an example of an image.
[Image: O43CMqI.png]

Put up an image by typing this.
Code:
[img]http://i.imgur.com/O43CMqI.png[/img]

Now, you can resize images!
[Image: O43CMqI.png]

Resize an image by typing this code.

Code:
[img=#x#]http://i.imgur.com/O43CMqI.png[/img]

Now, I'd like to discuss some hyperlinks.
These are links that you can use in text and images.
Here's an example of a hyperlink on text.

You can also click images with hyperlinks, like this one.
[Image: O43CMqI.png%5D]

To make hyperlinks on text, type this in!

Code:
[url=https://REDIRECTING_URL.net/]TEXT YOU WANT HERE[/url]

To do hyperlinks on images, type this in!

Code:
[url=https://REDIRECTING_URL.net/][img]http://DIRECT_IMGUR_LINK.png][/img][/url]

You can also do hyperlinks on text & images at the same time!

Code:
[url=https://REDIRECTING_URL.net/]TEXT YOU WANT HERE [img]http://DIRECT_IMGUR_LINK.png][/img] TEXT YOU WANT HERE[/url]

Last, but not least, we'll be discussing videos.
You can have only one video per post, so use them wisely! Here's an example of a video.

To post a video, type the following code in.

Code:
[video]https://www.video_url.com/[/video]

There are 7 video types, here they are:
  • DailyMotion
  • Facebook
  • VideoLeak
  • MetaCafe
  • Veoh
  • Vimeo
  • YouTube

This is the conclusion to the MyBB code section, with all this knowledge, hopefully you have a better grasp of the powers of BBcode!

Thanks for reading our guide, it's a pleasure to help new and experienced members alike! If you have any suggestions regarding this guide, just post below!

Great guide!

You can maybe quit going off-topic and realize it was a joke.

RE: Everything you need to know about SiriusForum. - Lain - 02-07-2016

This is a nice thread, I think a more accurate title for the thread would be "BBCode Cheatsheat" or something, as it's not really anything about SF.
