Mobile Technology Award - pvnk - 02-22-2016

I think this would be cool to implement on this forum due to us being a tech forum. Since we have awards that cover certain sections, I think that this award is extremely relevant. With mobile technology dominating the current market outside of the US, but worldwide, I think this award could potentially encourage members to be more involved in involving themself with the topic.

The icon provided is an outdated icon (but fitting) for an application that acquired root for Android filesystems known by the name of SuperSU. (http://www.xda-developers.com/the-importance-of-open-source-in-root/)

Although the icon may represent a focus in Android, the concept of rooting any device isn't exclusive to Android. iOS root is acquired via jailbreaking, in which the user has full control of their operating system.

Both actions improve overall functionality of mobile devices, which is why I think this icon is an appropriate one for the award should it get implemented.

The name of the award could be ~
Code:
Mobile Support
or
Code:
Phreaker
(understandably a different concept than mobile support, but is consistent with other themes on this forum) and the description could be along the lines of
Code:
Member has demonstrated a proficiency and mastery of fixing, customizing, and helping other members with mobile devices.

Nicely argued for the award. I would like to how many threads we actually have discussing mobile tech to see how many this would apply to. I wonder what @Oni thinks.

Part of the goal of this would also to establish interest for people who may not currently have interest in phones/tablets. This could generate and I hate to say this because I am not the administrator so I don't want to second guess his intentions, but it could potentially generate traffic if enough informational or unique informational threads are exclusive in our forum. I imagine drawing in members could boost our activity, but it's also understandable that not all activity is welcomed.

I know for a fact that I have created several threads I have not seen on even XDA, which is a forum dedicated to Android development and more.

There seems to be a feel of PCMasterRace here and it's easy to forget how up and coming the phones and tablets are. It's an area that I don't think SL has dived into. So, perhaps you are right?

We do have the section, at least. It isn't empty either. People are interested, they're not THAT interested, but I think that can change.

Why not a computer engineer type award instead? I didn't specify an Android and iOS award. I suggested the title of an award that would cover both subtopics.

*nix distros and OS X aren't revolutionizing the way mobile OSes are.

Computers don't necessarily need the recognition in the context of this as theyre are multiple sections that bring activity to it.

Mobile technology has one. An award would bring out the bit of prominence that it deserves in my opinion.

In any case, your question is a slippery slope. If you can, create a suggestion by "this logic", I'm not stopping you.

Fair question, but I think I gave you a fair answer.

I believe this (or some variation) would be better suited.

It would cover a broader range of technological entities.

Does the Tech-Savvy award not fit the general theme I'm hearing here?
