Advertising rule - Earth - 10-12-2015 I think the "You may not advertise your own forum, site, or blog here either." rule is honestly stupid and unnecessary. Members should be allowed to share there websites, blogs, even forums as long as it is a different niche from Sinisterly and does not mock or copy any sections from here. For example the I had a signature linking to my forum which is related to survival and it was removed by staff how does survival in any way shape or form conflict or compete with Sinisterly?, it doesn't. I understand that staff had to do it because the rules state so but come on now. What if a person has a blog or some sort of other site with useful features or content but still in no way competes or conflicts with Sinisterly in anyway wants to have a link in there signature but then they get a warning for it. I think thats wrong and this rule should be changed to allow non competing sites to be shared no matter what kind of site it is as long as it is nothing that can get Sinisterly into legal issues. RE: Advertising rule - Pirate - 10-12-2015 Forums should be allowed to be advertised for upgraded members. But I understand why they wouldn't allow it, it could easily drive members away RE: Advertising rule - Earth - 10-12-2015 (10-12-2015, 02:58 AM)WhiteHat Wrote: Forums should be allowed to be advertised for upgraded members. How will it drive members away when they are completely different niches, not competing not anything close to similar as Sinisterly. If members want to leave they will leave no matter what all it takes is a google search to find another similar forum. RE: Advertising rule - ねこまっしぐら - 10-12-2015 There should be an advertising thread. RE: Advertising rule - mothered - 10-12-2015 I totally agree. Provided the website, forum and the like Is not competitive to Sinisterly In any way, shape or forum, In my views, I don't see what sort of Impact It will have on this forum. I have a site which Is In my contact details of my profile, that's no way related to the nature of this forum, but can't place a link In my signature. The removal of your survival forum makes no sense whatsoever. All I'm asking Is, on what grounds Is a link to a website/forum (that has no association with the nature and content to Sinisterly) disallowed? We allow advertising in select circumstances. All you have to do is message me and ask for approval. If your site isn't competing, I'm more than likely to allow it. I just dislike seeing a bunch of website banners under posts, so I made it against the rules. Even if it is a completely different niche as you say, members will begin to spend more time there posting and being active if they enjoy it more, thus driving away members/making them less active. I completely agree with the rule, I think it should stay and should pretty much be a base rule on any forum. |
