British Humour - Do you get it? - Jiggly - 12-16-2014

This is a pretty simple thread. I wondered if those of you, who are from elsewhere in the world, understand British humour? What does it seem like to you?

Can you give an example? I'm not sure if I've heard a british joke before.

Eddy Izzard is godawful. I hope the other comedians aren't. I enjoyed the fact his comedy was a bit more intellectual - except it wasn't comedic at all. Left halfway through his performance for a smoke, even though I knew they were locking the doors. I don't think I missed out. I only laughed one time, the entire first half.

I enjoy Eddy Izzard, personally, but I can see where you're coming from.

Izzard isn't British humour. He is just a weirdo. Please stop comparing him to British comedy. I will literally kill myself if someone makes that assumption again. Most Brits would be like "what the fuck did you go to see him for?"

I saw a few vids online that did make me laugh. However, the show we saw was quite bad.

I'm a minute and a half in and I haven't understood shit yet. I'm just gonna stop there and assume I probably wouldn't like british humour.

Edit: I lied. I watched a bit more and chuckled when he talked to the American in the audience.

That's because that was mostly jokes related to our stereotypes and about the Scottish vote for independence. Anyone outside of the situation wouldn't understand as you just weren't there. It's not really an example of British humour. It's just humour about Britains stereotypes in my opinion.

That's what I thought. Wasn't sure what he was talking about and at the same time I wasn't understanding some words he was saying so I was just sitting here with a blank look on my face. lol Notamused

I actually enjoy alot of British culture, I grew up on BBC watching British gangster movies and way too much Dr.Who. (ie Layer Cake, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Get Carter, Snatch, etc etc)
It also saddened me to see what we Americans did with Top Gear and Being Human. I am sure there are more shows which we have trashed, but none I can think of at this moment.

The Inbetweeners... You guys ruined that Sad
