Grammar - Oni - 10-01-2012

Lately I've noticed a lack of proper grammar. Now, I am not really a Nazi about grammar, but I would like people to work on it.
I recognize the fact that we're an international forum and that English might not be everyone's first language. I still encourage everybody to follow these guidelines.

Whether you realize it or not, proper grammar is often an indicator of a poster's intelligence. Do you want people to think you're smart?
If your answer is yes, you should probably follow these simple tips. They might not look like much, but they make a huge difference.

Decent grammar is also something I look for in a moderator. Our staff's posts are generally high quality and have proper grammar.
Laziness isn't an excuse, so be sure you read the tips below.

Tips:
  • Capitalize when necessary. This includes the pronoun "I" and the first letter of sentences. (Read more on capitalization here)
  • Avoid run-on sentences and use commas when necessary. You should always use punctuation.
  • Check your spelling. If you don't know how to spell a word, you shouldn't be using it. You can always look up the word's spelling.
  • Be aware of what you're posting. We all make mistakes, so just double-check. It's not hard.

Have some tips to add or a question? Just post.

Would you like me to whip up some grammar tutorials? I've always wanted to do a few but never had a reason to.

Thank you for the mental note Anarchist, it could especially help improve the forum's quality upon viewing.

I've been thinking about this for a while, and I'm not surprised that we are all butchering the English language. Even though it's butchered so much it isn't really a language anymore.

There isn't much you can do to stop those who are illiterate or who
speak inperfectly. I personally structure my replies like this yet my
grammar is next to perfect. I see it in that way anyway.

Well, I think it's good, I'll be keeping it in mind Wink

RE: Grammar - Hardz - 10-02-2012

Nice idea. Seen a lot of this happening myself. I'm looking forward to seeing grammar improvement which will make the site alot more high-quality.

Some people can't spell, it's just how things are. I mean, I guess if we all took our time when posting then our grammar would be better. Thanks for notifying everyone anyway.
