Where do you guys study C++ from? - unnamed - 08-02-2013

I'm planning to start learning it in the following days, I know it's going to be kinda hard.

So where do you study it from?
An book, if so which one?

Also do you have any favorite IDE?

Do you have experience with other programming languages?
I recommend buying c++ primer 4th edition, that's very good book.
And for IDE i recommend either CodeBlocks or GCC.

Oh thanks for the suggestion.
i got that book, well it was like 1300 pages and I wanted to get some real reviews before I get into it. amazon reviews don't really count.

best book for learning C++ is "Object oriented programming through C++" by Robert Lafore. Just googe for it.

IDE: MS Visual C++

Other resources :-
http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/
http://www.learncpp.com/
http://www.tutorialspoint.com/cplusplus/

I just hate MS Visual C++ Express because of the errors it had.Even though I did the recommended suggestions it still didn't get fixed.
I also think it isn't so focused on C++.

For now I'll use sublime text;.I'm a newbie anyway so won't need anything better for now.
I also plan moving on Linux soon, so no hard commitments.

Edit: Anything newer than 4th edition?

I don't think so. I have the 4th edition book as well I guess. Use whatever IDE you want. Also you can use eclipse or netbeans IDE for C/C++

@Psycho_Coder This ebook seems good, but if I pick it up i'll have to read C++11 again, so I guess I'm gonna stick with C++ Prime (5th Edition).

Also I think Code::Blocks would be nice, when I move to Linux.
