My short movie: School as a computer game (classic games in reality ^^) - Frooxius - 04-30-2011

Hello,
I saw others posting some videos in this section, so I thought why not show a short movie I made about two months ago, especially when it's related to computers and classic games :-)

It was created for a graduation ball as a presentation of class I am in (P4B), I came up with idea to do the presentation more interesting than just slideshow of photos and videos the other classes have. It took more time to do all the filming and post processing, but it was really fun, making it with classmates ^^

Anyway, here it is, hope you like it ^_^'

Brilliant.
I like the green screen usage (or cropping which seems to be in this case) which is perfect, very innovative ideas. Perfect editing and post-processing.

If only you could make them act better, some of them are not looking at the camera in their stills, or look sleepy.
But it's still great. Smile

Wow, thanks ^_^'

Yes, I used both green screen and cropping, depending on the situation. Cropping is really fast and easy with a tabletPC, cropping a photo of a single person took about 3-5 minutes, which was very time saving, since there was a lot of photos to crop.

As for the green screen, the funny thing is, that I don't actually have the keying canvas. Brother just happens to have lime-green plush blanket, so I borrowed it from him and it worked quite fine, although I wouldn't call it perfect: you can see some artifacts (small parts of the person disappearing for a couple of frames), especially at full resolution. It's because the blanket's color isn't exactly the green keying color, it's somewhat darker and the light conditions weren't optimal too. Maybe if I had more time, I would tune the chrome keying to make these holes go away, but because there was a deadline, I had to leave it as it is.

Actually, everything that was used in process of making this short movie was something that could be found around usual household and it was fun to improvise without special movie making equipment. Smile

Yeah, the stills. A lot of them were quite embarrassed and shy while they were filmed and photographed, sort of annoyed, that they have to be filmed and photographed and do such ridiculous things before camera, but the video was mandatory for the graduation ball. When we were shooting that Mario scene, that classmate told me, he feels like an idiot jumping like that (actually I jumped like that first, to show him what to do), but shortly after that he also said, that some people actually get paid for looking like idiots before camera  But after the scene was processed, he (and others) really liked it. Funny this is, that I'm probably the most shy person from the class, but I was at the safe end of the camcorder for most of the time anyway Smile

But I think that a lot of them did well for non-actors, I was even surprised how well some of them handled their scene Smile

Thanks :-)
I used mostly Sony Vegas Pro 10 (had Platinum Pro Pack before, but upgrated to the highest version) then GIMP 2.6, Paint.Net, Audacity, Fraps, Gens+ (recording parts from old school games), DOSbox (also recording video from old games) and maybe some others I probably forgot.
