dragoncave.net full tutorial and tips - V1P3R - 02-02-2011 Please move thread to correct forums .... Hey guys ... Since there are more and more using http://dragcave.net/ i have decided to share with you some nice tutorials i found on the net. What is dragoncave ? Dragon Cave is a free adoptables site. The premise of DC is that you are a dragon trainer with a seemingly unlimited lifespan who collects dragon eggs and raises them to become adults. Like many adoptables sites, the dragons are represented by graphics and are not actual living organisms, or even simulations. These graphics consist of sprites: small pixelated images-that "grow" on your scroll (the scroll being a list attributed to your personal account, consisting of your dragons and their statistics). Based on time, clicks, and views, the dragon will hatch and grow into an adult. If certain requirements are not met (x amount of clicks/views) within a set time period, the egg or hatchling will die. There are many different breeds, or types, of dragons, and collectors are free to collect based on their own preferences. This can include single-breed scrolls, scrolls consisting only of rares or of their favorite breed(s), frozen hatchling "armies" (hordes of hatchlings that will never reach adulthood), or simply users trying to collect all breeds. Several dragons are secret or discontinued (see Dragon Types for more information), making the game much more interesting for users looking for "complete sets." "Catching" Dragons? Players must also catch their own dragons by clicking on available dragon eggs, either from the main cave (index page) or the abandoned page. Eggs obtained from the front page (or "cave") are caveborn; these have no lineage, having come into existence mysteriously. The abandoned page (AP, as it is known to DC users) contains eggs that others have given up in some way. These may or may not have lineage, but it is far more likely to find dragons with parents or even large family lines in the AP. "Trading" Dragons?" Although there is no official trade system in place, some users "trade" dragons with one another to help each other obtain a complete set of dragons or to exchange rare breeds (see Dragon Types). This is a very risky process in which the users must exchange the dragon's four digit code found at the end of the dragon's URL (Example: http://dragcave.net/view/12aB = 12aB). It is important to note that these codes are case sensitive. After exchanging these codes the users will take turns in abandoning their egg or hatchling while the other attempts to catch it using the loophole URL "dragcave.net/abandoned/code". This is not guaranteed to succeed, as the egg being traded can show up on the AP for any hunters to click. One second of lag can mean the difference between a successful trade and the loss of your dragon. Making Dragons Grow Views Views denote the overall number of views your egg or dragon has received. This can be misleading as the amount of views you can receive is restricted by the amount of unique views you have. For every unique view your dragon accumulates, it can receive a maximum 15 times the unique views. So, if an egg has 10 unique views it can't have more than 150 views. Views, some may argue, are a key decider on when a dragon will hatch or grow up, although no formula has ever been released by Dragcave administration. Usually, your egg starts cracking at around 150-400 unique views, and continues to crack with more views. Unique Views Unique views are accumulated every time an individual views your eggs. However, unlike views, you can only gain 1 unique view per IP Address. Unique views are important since they decide how high your views count can go. As was stated in the previous section, normal views can be no more than 15 times the number of unique views. One unique view can be gained for each IP-address viewing the dragon per 24 hours. Clicks Clicks, like unique views, can only be given out once per person. A click happens when someone accesses a dragon's statistics page. Clicks are not essential to a dragon's growth, as a dragon can grow without any clicks at all, but the presence of numerous clicks speeds up the growth process. One click is gained when someone clicks the egg, this person must then wait for 24 hours before he/she can give it another click. Dragon Sickness Eggs (small dragons as well as mid-size dragons) can become sick and die. There are two different reasons for this, both relating to the amount of views/clicks it has earned. Softshell/sickness will not prevent your dragons from growing up, but one should get rid of the sickness as soon as possible to ensure your dragons reach maturity. Is my dragon sick? To tell if your dragon is sick, simply look on its personal statistics page. Underneath the description will be one of two messages (depending on whether the sick dragon is in the egg or hatchling stage). If your egg has softshell, this message will appear underneath: "The shell of the egg seems soft, as though there's something wrong with it." If your hatchling is ill, this message will appear: "The hatchling seems sick. It hasn't been eating lately and it doesn't move very much." Causes and solutions Type A *Your egg/hatchling has received too many views in too short a time: This is the most common cause of sickness and soft shell, and generally occurs during the first day or two of an egg/hatchling's growth. To fix this, simply fog your egg/hatchling to prevent it from being viewed. It's generally accepted that sickness and soft shell will go away in 24 hours, though shorter healing times have occurred. Type B *Your egg/hatchling has more clicks than unique views: This is less common but does happen some of the time when breeding. On occasion your egg/hatchling will get 1 click from you clicking on it but, for some reason, the initial view didn't register. To fix this click your scroll link at the top of your scroll to register 1 view and unique view for your egg. If this doesn't work for whatever reason, simply place your egg/hatchling in a forum or on a click site where people can view it. This is one time you'll be happy that not everyone clicks all the DC dragons they come across. General Tips Essentially, the goal is to get views and clicks for your dragon(s), but also to space them out so they're not getting killed from over-viewing. Keep an eye on your dragon(s) and check them daily (or at least once every two days) to monitor for this. Exercise common sense and soft shell will not be an issue. Many experienced dragon-tenders do not attempt to collect views for their eggs (either by not posting them anywhere or by fogging them) before they have reached six days left, as eggs in their first day are more susceptible to sickness and often need fewer views to become sick. You can also easily check all your dragons at once if you go to the AoND Daycare and select the "Check for sickness" option. The resulting table will have a column indicating whether each dragon is healthy or sick. ALL TYPE OF EGGS All credits go to http://dragcave.wikia.com ![]() I that will help you...
