Hey, Welcome to SL! Don't forget to take a look at the Help section. It contains the rules and information on how to make your posts look much cooler.
I recommend you take a look at Nullchan too. It's run separately from SL but it's a cool imageboard.
I'm one of the 3 leaders of the group Reverence. We're here to help out the members, especially the new members, and we aim to set standards for quality of posts and threads. We're not the admins but we are able to give you a hand if you need us.
Oni is the forum owner if you didn't know that already.
