Paranormal, Supernatural and Unexplainable. - MiS - 06-17-2014 I was considering posting this in the Serious Discussion subforum, but I have a feeling not many people would take this seriously. So, what's the strangest, unexplainable thing that's happened to you? This could range from sleep paralysis, deja vu, recurring dreams, premonitions, ghosts, disturbing creature sightings, or anything like that. Spoiler: A short story from me.
I've only had one unexplained happening in my life that I couldn't find any answer for. It'll sound extremely cliche, but personal experiences aren't exactly Hollywood material. I had called my mom on one night, and when her phone answered, someone with an extremely raspy female voice answered on the other line. I thought the lines got mixed up at first and I got in touch with some elderly person, but as soon as I was about to hang up, she called my name, my name, and asked what I wanted from her. I asked how she knew my name and she claimed that she was my mom, even answering personal questions about the family as if she really was. I started to get really unsettled, and just decided to hang up in the middle of the conversation. I told my dad, but his only response was: "How could you have called your mom? I called her earlier at her work phone and she said she forgot her phone here at home last night." He brushed off that the elderly person knew so much about us, and told me the lines must have gotten mixed up. Now that legitimately scared me, and I tried calling the phone again, but no one answered. and I tried searching around the house, everywhere, to find the phone. I couldn't find it for the life of me, so I just tried sleeping on it. On the next morning, I tried phoning it again to see if I could hear, and locate it. I found it next morning in their closet, inside one of my mom's older dresses. I had checked there the previous night. The call history showed on both our phones that I did talk with someone for about two to three minutes, and two missed calls from my follow-up . They both still to this day think the calls got mixed, but it's still pretty unnerving for me. RE: Paranormal, Supernatural and Unexplainable. - 3SidedSquare - 06-17-2014 Gosh, I don't have much unexplained... The best I got was on a boy scout camp out. We were camping on this old decommissioned naval ship called the Blue Ghost (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Lexington_(CV-16)), got it's name because the Japanese reportedly sank it a bunch of times, but it just kept coming back. Anyway, the ghost story is that a young man once fell over the rails in the engine room, and was ground up by the engines (you can still see exposed engines from the catwalk) and afterwards, a few more fell over the railings and died. Somehow this translated into the ghost of the first young man dragging other sailors over the rails and killing them when no one was around. My friends and I were young and wanted adventure, so we snuck out of bed after everyone but the few adults on patrol had gone to bed (we slept in the crews quarters for the one night we were there). We got really lucky we didn't run into anyone on the way out, but we went to the engine room and tried to find the ghost. We were in there for probably 5 minutes, but it seemed like longer, when we saw a shadow of a person walking on the wall, but didn't hear any footsteps. We panic'd and scattered, went back to bed, never actually got caught. It was probably just a scoutmaster of some shit that heard us sneaking around. RE: Paranormal, Supernatural and Unexplainable. - NBA - 06-18-2014 Well, just like OP's story, mine would sound a bit "I heard this story somewhere", but I shit you not its true, and I almost shat my pants. I have 1 labrador, about 3 years old and she's really huge. She normally sleeps on top of the bed or beside my bed. Whenever she sleeps beside the bed I leave my hand hanging down to comfort her. About a year ago, she was sleeping up on top, and I had a habit of leaving my hand down, so I did. About at 2 AM, she started barking really loud. I was half awake. I could feel her behind me, and my hand was still down. I then felt something, more like a human hand holding me. I took my hand up, switched the lights on. Nothing was there. I couldn't sleep after that lol, scariest shit ever. The weirder thing is that a few weeks after that my sister was alone in the house with my dog, and she came howling and running out of the room. My sister was in the living room watching TV and my dog jumped up on top. A minute after that she heard the door of my parents room slam shut. no, it wasn't the air. This was like someone pushed it. Pretty freaky tbh. RE: Paranormal, Supernatural and Unexplainable. - BreShiE - 06-18-2014 Wow, OP, your story shit me up. If that's real then fucking hell haha. Should be made into a horror film. Alright, this is seriously what happened to me, it's puzzled my head ever since and I have no explanation for it at all. This racked my head so much for a good two weeks and it's still there in the back of my head now. Spoiler:
My mother and I were on our way back from a town 13 miles away from our town, after just visiting my mothers friend. This was only about 5 years ago. Anyway we were travelling down, what we knick-named "death road", because of all the sharp bends and blind corners. Anyway, we were about half way down the road when we both saw flashing blue lights. As the lights came closer we noticed it was an Ambulance, followed closely behind by a car with its full beam headlights on (Why would a car have its full beams on when following an ambulance?). We noticed both the ambulance and the following car travelling at quite fast speeds (50-80mph - on a back road). Anyway, as we neared the corner, the ambulance seemed to disapear? The car following came around the corner but at a slower 20-30mph. Now it's hard to describe this, but the car wouldn't have had enough time to slow from that speed and the ambulance had NO EXIT TO TAKE. There were no exits, no places to go apart from a ditch or the road. Both sides of the road are lined with ditches, so it didn't drive into the middle of a fucking field. My mother and I BOTH witnessed this. We were shaking the whole way back to our home town and had to go to my grandmothers to calm down. Still to this day no one believes us. We know what we saw. I don't care how unrealistic this sounds. I don't care. This happened, it was fucking real. I haven't told this story since a month after it happened. I stopped telling people because no one believed me and called me a bullshitter. Should be made into a horror film. Oh fuck. I feel glad I never experience any shit like OP or BreShiE, you guys have seen some fucking weird shit. I don't really have much that's unexplainable though, but there are a few times that are really prominent. I seem to be able to remember things my family are pretty sure I wasn't born in time for. Fucked right? Well here's some examples. I can vividly remember playing football with my Grandad in the back garden of a bungalow he was fixing up when I was around 4 years old. I remember it like it was yesterday, the entire layout of the place, how the place looked, I remember the caulk hanging on the door handles and the missing floor boards, I even remember what the ball we were using when we were playing football looked like. Multiple times in my life I've described this to my dad, and he has been completely confused about it, because that was apparently around 3 years before I was born. Wat. I have one slightly blurry memory from the old house my family lived in until I was 3. I only have 2 memories of the place, one of my sister falling down the stairs, and this one: I remember my dad holding me in the kitchen, with the door to the back garden open, late at night, like midnight, whilst trying to reach my mum on the phone, he thought she might have crashed the car or something and sure enough she had. I remember her coming in through the back garden, and that it was a blue Ford Escort she had crashed. I'm surprised I remember this, as I couldn't have been any older than 2 at the time. As to the truth in this, well, I'll never know, but my sister once claims to have seen the ghost of an old man in a suit and an old bride in her bedroom. She was around 12 at the time and apparently had just woke up to see them standing next to her bed, watching her, almost as if they were brain dead. She hid under her covers and her bedroom door slammed open, and my dad went in to check on her. A few times I've had rather odd hallucinations. There's a sticker on my home phone dock, it's white with red writing, one day I went to put the phone in it and I hallucinated, saw it go blurry and couldn't read the writing. Then it became clear again and it said "WARNING DANGER" in big red letters. I put the phone down on the dock and when I lifted it up and checked the sticker the normal writing was there again. I guess it was just me hallucinating but it freaked me out the rest of the day. RE: Paranormal, Supernatural and Unexplainable. - Jiggly - 06-18-2014 Uzinero - yours are pretty good ones actually. I've had things where I remembered stuff that supposedly never happened. Mine aren't scary or anything though. I was at my grandparents once, and we'd played this board game. The next day I'd asked to play it again because it was good fun but the adults gave me a funny look. (I don't remember what game it was now.) They told me that they'd thrown out that game months ago and that we hadn't played it the day before like I said we had. I kept telling them that we had and didn't understand why they were telling me lies. I was about 6/7 at the time so I didn't understand that they were telling me the truth. Another time when I was around 5/6 I was watching a film with my parents. My Dad and I are really playful and so we raced each other up the stairs, after the film was done, to my room as it was my bed time. The next day I had mentioned the end of the film and the race to my parents and my parents said that I didn't even see the end of the film as I had fallen asleep in my Dad's arms and he had carried me to bed, not raced me... I was convinced I wasn't dreaming as it was way too real and I was able to remember how the film finished. This one could well be some psychological thing where I remembered the film as I could hear it whilst I slept or something. However, I still remember that race and it still seems real. I've only ever hallucinated once. I woke up thirsty one night and looked at my bed-side table. I saw one of my favourite cups there and it was 3/4 full of water. I reached out for it and my hands went straight through it, as if it was made out of air. I sat up and rubbed my eyes and suddenly it was gone. I'm sure other weird things have happened but I can't remember them off the top of my head. xD I'm glad nothing horrible ever happened to me though xD RE: Paranormal, Supernatural and Unexplainable. - MiS - 06-18-2014 Nobody needs to worry if their experience was scary or horrifying, or even if it makes a good story! Everyone's welcome to share their happenings, strange or otherwise. RE: Paranormal, Supernatural and Unexplainable. - Satan - 06-18-2014 One day I was chasing my brother through my old house, which has had plenty of creepy shit I'll talk about later. But going from our kitchen to the den, there was a curtain as we didn't have a door there yet. He runs through there, and naturally I chased after him going full out run. What I didn't know was that five feet behind that blanket, was a chair. He was hiding behind the couch, but peering over, and saw what happened next. I came rushing through the curtain, only to see the chair in a split second, to which I immediately threw my hands out and braced for impact. That's when the weirdness started. I kept moving, all the way until I hit the couch. This chair was solid oak, very sturdy, and rather wide. I wasn't sure what had happened, but my brother saw it. According to him, I had run through the chair, as though it were an illusion. He was seven at the time, so he wasn't able to describe it like that, but that is the basic gist of what he told me. I inspected the chair after hearing this. Completely solid. To this day we aren't sure how it happened, and we haven't told anyone in my family since, as we had and still fear that something bad may come of it being known. We've talked about it since, but we try to keep it out of our minds. |
