New members, read here before posting! - MiS - 06-11-2014 First off, allow me to welcome you to Sinisterly! Some may describe this place as one of the best places to discuss technology on the Internet, while others may describe it as a den for skiddies to run about. To you, it could be a board to expand your knowledge about coding, a place to share your product, a site to receive feedback about your projects, or this may just be a forum to talk, meet new friends, and chat about common subjects you share. Whatever the reason may be, the community will be more than happy to welcome you with open arms so long as you do the two recommended things before doing anything else: Many of the things you should and (more importantly) shouldn't do are here, examples being not to gravedig (i.e. posting in threads if no one has responded for a substantial amount of time) or not make short, one-word, or image-only posts which are the most commonly broken. You, I, and the rest of us definitely wouldn't want to receive a bad first impression of you on your first post. Make a new thread and introduce yourself!
The best way to establish yourself in a new community, online or off, is to introduce yourself to it's existing members, whether you're a graphic designer, entrepreneur, coder, or just wanting to meet new people. Just a simple thread saying "Hello" along with your interests says a whole lot more about you than making a new account that bumps an old thread, or advertising a product when no one has heard of you (both of which can get you in trouble). Following these two instructions, you should be off to a great start in becoming a part of our warm community. RE: New members, read here before posting! - Equinox - 06-11-2014 Inb4 50 new members all breaking the rules. I'm glad you made this, MiS, but one problem. New members that do these types of things don't read the rules in the first place. Sadly, this is just adding to their list of things not to read. RE: New members, read here before posting! - Mom - 06-11-2014 While I understand the sweet little MiS has good intentions, let's be honest: Only shit heads wouldn't read the rules and then proceed to fuck up. Only shit heads won't read this. Only decent people will have read the rules and maybe this, and not fucked up to begin with, even with the rules unread, considering they're fairly sensible. I have no faith in humanity. RE: New members, read here before posting! - MiS - 06-11-2014 Well, at least I can say I tried.

RE: New members, read here before posting! - Losi - 06-11-2014 Just ask Oni to pin it to the top of the intro board. He'll probably do it, dunno though. (To be honest I don't like open registration, either. I've talked to Oni about it and he doesn't plan on closing it, he said. That was a while ago, though) RE: New members, read here before posting! - MiS - 06-11-2014 (06-11-2014, 06:49 AM)Duubz Wrote: I'm glad you made this, MiS, but one problem. Maybe there could be something like a redirect to this page for the first post or thread that a new member makes? Not sure why really. I keep seeing quite a few members, maybe around a 60-80% chance for it to occur, to come on, be a little shit, and either end up banned or leaving forever after <7 Days. Not. A.
