i really agree with you, i am in a situation where this requirement to avoid spam is hurting me more than it would ever benefit this community like who spams in 2024?

I think it forces people to atleast think before they write, stop leechers.
It's also easy for mods to delete/ban user they think is making trash posts to gain the community.

It does seem counter-productive, considering the quality of some posts in lounge after they've forced people to post for the sake of meeting the limit. Can't say for sure but I don't remember much of a spam problem before they introduced it.

We put the restriction to make certain sections less public. If you can't make 5 posts, then it's unlikely you're going to contribute anything meaningful to the sections you are trying to access.
The alternative is requiring Bronze, but I have a feeling people would complain a lot more about paying $15.
