What Do You Miss The Most From The 2010s? - 7om 8rady - 12-02-2023

It felt like the 2010s were simpler and far less stressful. Not just for me, but for everybody. Might just be nostalgia talking, but I think very fondly of the 2010s and the way life was during those years.

I miss when social media was more personal and retained to your immediate network of friends.

What do you miss the most from the 2010s?

I miss the experience of MMOs from that time. Runescape/World of Warcraft were excellent pre-2010. Prior to EOC and trade-limits, RS3 was at a high point. World of Warcraft was still doing well from WotLK. They've since created OSRS and WoW Classic, but they just feel like cheap imitations. The experience isn't the same.

I think we all have that one MMO that will forever hold a dear place in our hearts.

I miss when everyone played RuneScape for pure enjoyment and interaction, now everyone is so concerned with efficiency and "no XP waste".

The mentality of maximum efficiency is an issue for sure, as it's almost as though it took away from the social aspect of playing. The adding of microtransactions/level skips are an issue for both, too. While there were always ways to get ahead (i.e. Sythe/EpicNPC), it felt a lot less pervasive.

The gaming community was different back then. It was more casual people wanting to have a session of fun. Less sweatlord troll/griefing and even hacking. Sooo much hacking nowadays. Less depressive people online too.
Games were build with dreams and goals, not so moneydriven and the preying on children, gambling was somewhat contained.
Reddit hadn't attracted all the dumb masses yet. You could get more accurate news faster than your mainstream media by a few days.
Next generations will not be able to relate.

May not apply to everyone but life in the 2010s was stress free and mortgage-less.
