That's extremely shameful. There's just no excuse for it either. As an employee, you have limited power to dispute pay problems, even in places like the UK, where we have some of the better laws protecting employees.

most google employees file 1099s and are normally unpaid interns. i have a few friends that work at the amphitheater location and its a little brutal for nancy-boy tech people. usually groups are pitted against each other to come up with the best idea, and you are not guaranteed anything beyond the accepted 1099.
