New Forum Icons - Drako - 05-13-2021

I've been really staring over the forum icons recently, and I can't help but think that they need some kind of 'revamp'. I already have some ideas in mind, and if this thread gains some traction I can upload some rough designs and see what everyone thinks.

The hardest part would be actually implementing them though. I would need some collaboration with @Oni to get the icons displaying colors correctly.

Color changer has some very specific needs when it comes to icons. It's doable, but icons need very flat/neutral to be detected and changed properly.

A more ideal way to do color changing is with hue shifting. It's a little harder to implement given that the board already has an implemented color changer, but what you COULD do is do an offset hue shift based on the original color of the board (#892222), that way you would get more color-accurate icons and they wouldn't be broken (like how the pc gaming icon is always red because of the way that it was designed and the deficient color changing script).

The needs of the color changer are entirely self-imposed due to its implementation.

Irrespective of whether this thread generates Interest, It won't hurt to contribute your designs.

I, for one, would be Interested In viewing what you have at your disposal. I'm sure other members share the same thought.

Your recommendation would have been a better idea. I've started working on some of the icons now. I'm not very good with vectors, so it may take me a day or two.

No problem at all.

No rush, take your time.

If you're happy to try some stuff out, I'd love to see them. While I do like our current icons, they are a pain when it comes to the colour changer.

I agree the color changer is a bit harsh on some icons. would love to see some ideas or brainstorm on some icons if available

We'll likely be changing this in the coming weeks. Legacy theme will also get a color changer most likely. @Drako It's not certain we'll have new icons, as you'll need to provide them (or I'll have to get one of our designers to).

Yeah, I was hoping to see their examples, but alas, it's not been shared yet. As I've said before, I like our current icons, but they were made a long time ago before many theme edits, so I'm not opposed to new ones.
