How can I make money with my home server? - xibalanque - 01-06-2021

Hi everyone, so not too long ago I made my own website it was awesome making it. Later I found out that I needed a server space to be able to store and host my website along with domain and such.

So out of pure impulse I went out and bought a Dell PowerEdge T420 server because why pay someone else to do what you can do yourself right? Well now I would like to know what ways I can make money from it besides your average Hosting services. I know you can use it for mining coin but the investment is rather huge to be able to make any type of profit.

if anyone can think of something please share.

Hosting services and game servers is probably the best you can do. Mining might have been lucrative 5+ years ago, but it's not as profitable. Alternatives don't really come to mind, but you should think about what you can offer that a typical host or dedicated server can't.

I figured as much. I just wasn't sure if I had other options.

If you come up with a nice method, please do share. I also have a server that I'm not using anymore Smile

Well I'm a noob, currently I have my own website running at the moment . I still have a lot to learn when it comes to smtp which is why im not so quick to start hosting web services.

For sure. Im currently looking at the deep web hopefully I can find something lucrative but honestly it really doesnt seem like you can do much with your own server.

It can be rather demanding.

Do you have the bandwidth to accommodate hosting?

I agree with Oni here. Making a game server is one of your better options. I know of a real-life example from a friend who makes about $1000 every month in donations on his Ark server. He offers in-game benefits like resource drops and boosts for real money. The more you donate, the easier time you have on the server. If you have a big enough server, or enough server instances running, and enough people donating, you can get a nice chunk of spending money. He also gets his wife to post selfies on the discord and plays with the players on the server, and they simp out and donate tons just to play with her. It's kind of genius honestly, and hilarious that people will actually spend money on this stuff.

If there's a game you like, this is definitely a good idea. I don't think I'd recommend doing it just for the money, though.

Ok, this is something i'm definitely going to have to look into, sounds like it wouldn't be successful to me unless I have some type of social influence which sadly I am lacking lol

oh no, I have very basic set ups. Thats why i'm looking into different ways to make money on the side with what I have.

I'm trying to learn how to use Kali along with the tools so I can do some bug hunting on the side since it seems like that's more of a better approach. Not easy, or simple, but better.

For sure, I'm just trying to come up with all the different things that are possible, maybe get some unexpected inspiration and come up with something completely new lol
