Chinese companies are forced to work with their intelligence agencies and are required to have mandatory backdoors into their devices, I apply this to various things you can find online like USB listening devices which only need a simcard in place to either call out or dial into the device, I used one of these devices before and had some very odd behaviour when calling the device, all it needs is a small amount of code to send the telephone number to a server and anyone could access the device, this also goes for your mobile, wifi connected cameras always make sure your buying from a legitimate supplier.

I agree, I've found this to be the case as well. I've never owned a cheap Chinese phone, but I found a great tutorial on making your own phone out of a Raspberry PI I think you'd find interesting.

PiPhone Tutorial

I've always found it easier to have an old flip-phone for calls and an old Android for connecting to Hot Spots and using as a media player if I need to.

Huawei is super shady and their CFO was recently arrested. Given we agreed to a trade truce, I'd be very worried.

Whenever I use an Android device I usually just reinstall the OS with a custom rom removing anything unneeded in the process.

This is actually super old news that the media has brought back from years ago when obama did his first obama phone deal. if you had an obama phone that was a huawei model, all your privacy was pwned.

Despite all of this I have for a good while purchased phones from China, not for my day-to-day use, but just to experiment with. Huawei is one of my favorite mobile manufacturers and I have been using their products for a good while, despite the risks involved. However, it is always important to consider the risks involved when dealing with the Chinese. However, I'm perfectly okay with them. (No I do not use those devices to access SL lmao)

Good move.

Anything relative to Google, Is a privacy concern and needs serious customization to rid potential elements of tracking.

You USE those devices to access SL, what is wrong with you man!?!?! Your giving them all the secrets !!!

I joke, I joke.

Don't get me wrong if I have the ability to get my hands on these devices I do enjoy messing around with them just because you never know what you might uncover.

That is true, I remember reading a way to completely privatise your Android device but this also entailed removing certain hardware elements but it was quite in-depth, shame I can't find the link to the original post.

I intentionally say I don't use those devices and what happens? I mistype and say I do use them. But no I hate using mobile to access most sites, especially SL, even with Tapatalk. Lately though I've been stuck on iPhone until I can get a replacement screen for my main phone but we'll see how long that'll take.
