I respect part of china's philosophies. They have the right idea but not the right people organising it.
Can't let those children have fun! Take away their video games!
the one student over there with 1k+ hours in Skyrim laughs
They're really turning into a dystopian shithole...
What is even the point of signing this into law if you can still play offline titles legally? This just hurts China and business Chinese gaming companies. It should be up to parents to discipline their children, not the government.
I think this is nonsense because people will play games offline and the manufacturers will lose a lot of money
Unironically, I wish someone had done this to me when I was a child.

I suspect many people probably could have done with curbing their childhood gaming time. However, I think that should be controlled by the parents, not the government. Some kids grow up to have fantastic careers as graphic designers, coders, artists, and all sorts. Some of their skills and reflexes were learned in the gaming world. I also think some games are becoming more than just games... Though there is a difference between gaming addiction and getting something useful from it. xD

Games definitely have skills that are transferable. Some kids will inevitably become content creators, developers, or designers. There's a handful of kids on games like Roblox that have made enough to retire before they even hit 18. While that's not the expected outcome for everyone, giving your child the freedom to explore their interests and grow as a person is important too.
