I'm still refered to as skull by some of my friends. I dont find it that odd. In fact we use our aliases almost interchangably with our names depending on how formal we feel.

I like the Ender's Game series (of books, the movie was complete shit), specifically Ender's Shadow. Bean is a weird name, so I chose the next best thing, Ender. Could've also done Alai though.
