Intel cores, generally speaking, actually give closer to the advertised GHz, and they draw less power to do so. Obviously this isn't always true, do your research.

Intel has better chip architecture, and generally perform a lot better than AMD processors. AMD is also much cheaper though.

I don't really know the difference but Intel is great while AMD is also good, AMD isn't really bad.
I've been using Intel though.

To be honest, there is not much of a difference between both. Both will run fine and they're just rivals. They only have pin differences and different names...

Intel is different in a way because of the performance difference on a wide scale - AMD doesn't really compare to the Intel in terms of performance without being clocked. There's only a slight difference if you're just commonly gaming on high performance, but if you're doing some system intense tasks then you'll probably see a firm difference.
If you're looking for a fantastic build - Go with Intel, they cost more most of the time but it will be an amazing choice to go with. Also the latest AMD has been majorly disappointing among many computer enthusiastic as it's basically a 'power hog' and waste of space.
Even though I am rocking an AMD right now, go with an Intel if you're looking for a long term stable machine!

I am yet to delve further into the newest AMD models but I guess I can give some information that I already have -
AMD is making an incredible move to the new quicker chips. However AMD seems to be going up in price and that's were it will fall in my opinion - competing not over the actual hardware itself but by the cost. I mean currently AMD isn't anything to Intel in my eyes - Intel has the superiority over AMD in the speed and power.
AMD's bulldozer chip is a waste! Many review sites have discredited it even after the years of development that's been put into it. After I've looked around it seems AMD bulldozer is actually one of the worst I've seen and researched myself.
Another point about the AMD chip is -
"Windows 7 doesn't understand Bulldozer’s resource allocation very well. Windows 7 “sees” eight independent CPU cores"
Pulled from a review site
That's pretty crap right? I think you can guess why it's a big disappointing and so comparable to the Intel processors. They'll state a certain specification on the product but your performance is nothing like the 'statistics' given.
I might be wrong in your opinion - I am no tech master but I very biased at this.

Don't compare an i7 to an Phenom II X4. This is one of AMD tricks to attract consumers. They put more cores into their CPUs because people always think more cores is equal to more power, when it really isn't. AMD has 6-core and 8-core CPUs that are weaker than Intel's i5, which is a quad-core. The i7 is probably 5 times more powerful than the Phenom II X4.
AMD CPUs are only good for when you're on a tight budget.

I don't see a difference between the 2 besides price. Therefor AMD wins in my heart.
