As stated in the other thread, don't re-use passwords. And obviously don't install malware.

While I have blocked automated log-in attempts, this will not protect stupid people outside of the forum. Do business with people that have enough common sense to not download malware or re-use passwords.

If a member's forum account is compromised because they re-used passwords, then their email/Facebook/Twitter could be as well. This is not an issue unique to our forum.

Not sure what you mean by low importance or what you think is happening here? This forum is protected. There is no issue with our database and nothing has been compromised from the forum admin end.

Individual users themselves have released their passwords (intentionally or not).
If you wanted to spend $100 on SL, and then decide to use the same password as your blog that has a data breach, how exactly is SL supposed to prevent you doing that? The actions that can be taken to protect from this have already been taken.
Beyond that, all we can do is tell people to use common sense with how they protect their passwords as the breach isn't coming from us.
