If you do decide to do it, keep in mind it's pretty easy for law enforcement to find out that you asked this exact question a couple days/weeks before someone worm'd your school's network.
They will likely get a warrant for the general region of your school's network traffic and you will have to deal with the consequences.
If you want to do this to learn, you can simulate an intranet pretty easily without having to deal with popo.
