If the rabies virus was to change in a way that treatment does not work and becomes not so deadly but the virus stays still very effective then it could turn into a big problem considering thousands of people get rabies per year.

And it is proven viruses can change even the common flu has changed and now vaccines are proven almost useless with very little benefit.

There is also other known viruses/diseases if you give google a shot.

But lets not turn this into a argument or anything because as I said the chances are slim and this is just a what if kind of thread in no way am I saying it is going to happen.

Like I said everybody needs a little fantasy in there life.

Not as deadly would sort of tone it down. Its deadly cos of the neurological damage it does rapidly, in addition to the fact you don't want to have anything to do with water, including drink it. It replicates in the throat, which makes it painful to even go for a drink. You'd die of dehydration, even if the neurological damage didn't exist. And if it didn't replicate in the throat or mouth, it wouldn't be a giant issue.

Wade Davis, an anthropologist from Canada, performed a scientific investigation on the "Hatian Zombie" case and came to the conclusion that powdered pufferfish toxins were used to induce a trance-like state on victims for up to several years.

I heard about the pufferfish toxins but I could of sworn it was in Guam? I could be mistaken but I for sure have heard about it.

I actually think it was brought up on the series Destination Truth.

I know a few people who were infected with the rabies virus 1 was actually my grandmother and its not as rapid as people make it out to be. They are just fine after getting stuck with a bunch of needles.

But as I said though it is possible for the virus to change in some way just like the common flu changed therefore leaving vaccines almost useless and changing the way the virus reacts to a human.

Ok what I was saying is it replicates for transmission in the throat. Hence why when you get bit by something with it active, you have a good chance of getting it. It makes it difficult to drink anything, which could rapidly make it a dehydration death. & most people with rabies get it fixed before the symptoms occur. Once symptoms occur, that's when damage happens, and when its transmissible. Assuming it could evolve so that drinking water doesn't cause pain, it would need to not replicate via throat and such. Which would make it hardly worthwhile, as it removes bites as an avenue. Chances are, said mutation has happened before, but wasn't able to transmit to continue the spread, therefore died off already.
