So, here is the question: Do attractive people have advantage over those who are not?

My opinion is this that, indeed no, people who are more attractive do not have more advantage. Life throws problems over everyone regardless of how they look. Attractive people are not more successful. Confidence comes from within. I've seen as many "pretty" people with emotional problems as I have seen "ugly" people with the same problems.

I have a friend who faces the same problem. She has an attitude like this that: "I'm ugly already, so why try anyway? Look at all these cute successful people." This is the root of the fights we have and eventually it all came to this: " How can you know? You don't face this problem. Try being in my position." And hence like this our friendship came to an end because I was too "pretty" and had "no problems".:headbash:. Yah, right! . I'd say try living with teachers expecting everything from you.

So, in the end it all comes to the old saying:
Quote: It doesn't matter how beautiful you are on the outside, it matters how beautiful you are in the inside.

Beautiful people with cute smiles sometimes have problems which no one has and smiling is just their way of covering it up. I don't think any of the top composers got to where they are because of their good looks. Being a pretty boy/girl ain't gonna help if you can't even make the music sound right.

Sometimes people are beautiful. Not in looks. Not in what they say. Just in what they are.

Give me your opinion on this. Do you think that attractive people have an advantage over non-attractive people?

There have been countless studies that show attractive people get preferential treatment. This has nothing to do with the problems they may or may not face. Sure attractive people have issues too with the same wide variety of problems.

They key difference though, is attractive people get preferential treatment. Look at it this way. Youre walking toward an exit with 2 glass doors. You see an attractive person heading for 1, an ugly person heading for the other. Which door do you head for in order to hold it open? strictly speaking as a man, id like to impress and show off to the attractive woman heading my way. Might not lead to any thing but id much rather take a chance with the hottie. might make me shallow but i doubt youre going to find too many that would choose the ugly chick by default. Thats just an example. But i mean if i was late for an appointment and i grabbed a cab, i might give it up for an attractive woman... while i would unlikely give it up for an ugly one.

Same goes even for the same sex. if im a hiring manager and i wanted to hire a new salesperson... or honestly someone in any role... i would rather have the sharply dressed clean shaven man with great hair representing my company or brand, than the ugly guy with pimples popping out of his cheeks and a 1 or 2 month old beard with a barely combed head.

Now im not saying that attractive people are better people, more trustworthy, or have fewer problems. But the more attractive you are the more preferential treatment you receive. Its just nature.

In Italy there is a word "the clouds makes the monk " -is egual to what you say- i think the attractive people have more advantage then ugly people - for sure.

I think they do. Many companies would rather hire the more attractive candidate for the job, even if they don't meet the requirements to the standard of the "ugly person" (or less attractive, to be less offensive). Like Geoff said, they get better treatment. That being said, they probably have a lot of problems too. I know because I'm real attractive Biggrin I'm only kidding Tongue

If I had the well educated, but less attractive person vs. the hot but stupid girl to choose as an accountant, I'd choose the smarts over looks. But if both met the requirements to be an accountant, I would choose the more attractive person.
