Soon after The Pirate Bay was taken offline in early December following a police raid in Sweden, several other torrenting alternatives took its place, as download fans kept looking for their regular torrents elsewhere. One such site is Kickass Torrents, whose popularity surged in the aftermath of The Pirate Bay’s unexpected demise.

Now that The Pirate Bay is back, however, it looks like Kickass is down alongside several other sites.


The site now returns an error message if loaded, Wired reports, with users unable to access the site’s Somali .so domain. The publication says that while the Somali registry appears to be a safe haven for torrent sites such as Kickass, it appears that other .so sites containing the word “Kickass” have been taken offline in the process.

Kickass Torrents has been forced to move a few times since its creation in 2008, and it’s likely the site will be resurrected in the future. The Pirate Bay came back online recently, though it took the team nearly two months to return.
