It's possible we'll see both Microsoft and Sony release their consoles by the end of the year. Microsoft just purchased Bethesda, so titles like Elder Scrolls/Fallout could become Xbox-exclusives.

Which console would you pick?

Get ready for a new generation of game consoles. Microsoft and Sony have both announced their next big things, and unless plans change, it looks like we will see them as soon as the end of this year. In Sony's corner, there's the PlayStation 5 (coming November 12 for $499), the sensibly named next iteration of the PlayStation. In Microsoft's corner, there's the Xbox Series X (coming November 10 for $499), a game console that looks like a PC and hints at an entire line of systems.

I'll be PC master race for life, but it's not fair to bash on a $500 console. So If I really had to pick, I would go for the Xbox Series X. I've always been an Xbox fan, and seeing that the Series X just barely edges out on top of the Playstation in terms of specs, that's another bonus. But software can always kill the performance of any console, so you can't exactly predict any gains over another console until there are benchmarks (I don't know of any right now).

They're pretty close spec-wise, so my decision would probably be based on the exclusives. Sony tends to get more anime titles, whereas Microsoft now controls Bethesda.

I'd probably pick the Xbox for now, but if Bethesda titles aren't exclusive I might change my mind.
