If depends on what country is the prison in. In some countries it's just a suicide and a nightmare, while in other countries they are like others, with TV, Gym, pool....

I agree with @samtrader . It definitely depends on the country the prison is in. Chinese prison? North Korea? No way. America, or another first world country? It would suck for that year, but as long as I was given the money at the end of it, I think it would be worth it.

Would I have a criminal record afterward? Or are we talking purely spend time in a prison for one year and receive the money afterward?

Call me a do-gooder, but having a prison sentence or crime on my record isn't worth any amount of money for how much it limits you in society afterwards.
