Would you date your boss? 01-10-2014, 02:35 AM
#1
A few years ago, I got into a relationship with a superior. He was 15 years my senior. We tried to keep our romance on the low, but people found out. There was a lot of whispering. The problem - his sister was a VP in the company and didn't want us together. Eventually, I quit.
This scenario taught that it's probably not best to date the boss.

I guess when professionalism and learning how to separate that from personal attachments towards the boss becomes an issue, I would heavily reassess the situation before making a move even if she was beautiful and hot. And in your case, if they had a relative that may have been over-protective of who they went out with, that’s just something I wouldn’t want to deal with altogether.
I would just have to endure, absolve whatever love I have for them if it’s going to affect my source of income. It’s just not worth it for me, though depending on how things play out, I wouldn’t be affected if others were talking about it. I don’t think the attraction would suddenly create favoritism so great that it would affect doing work professionally.

I would not because you have to separate business from pleasure.

I probably wouldn't date a boss. I have, however, dated people that I worked with. It's not always a good idea to date your boss. A lot of the time, it causes problems.

I definitely would, as it could lead to great things, but also terrible things if you fuck up. It would help you get a raise easier, promotion, which could really be helpful if it's a big job. But if you break up then you're basically fucked lol. So I'd only do it if they were hot so I could be with them for a long time.

Friends and business never mix well. Normally you rush into things when you meet someone at work, leaving vulnerabilities that ruin relationships.

I don't think it's a good idea if you can help it. I also don't think dating a co-worker is a good idea. Either the job or the relationship is going to suffer because of it...or maybe both.

I would not date a boss nor someone at work because I want to separate work from relationships. There are chances that they don't match well because I don't want to date anyone at work. It causes conflicts along the road, which can also cause the relationship to last shorter that way.
