WordPress Login Issue #1
Good day everyone ...

Anyone wordpress expert/user here that can assist me .

Short story: When i first started using wordpress, the site give you a executable installer that you could install on your PC and get the full experience of wordpress, so i setup a 2FA everything was great .

Problem 1: its being a while since i last use it, so i login and it ask for the Verification code for the 2FA, normally i don't have any problems receiving the code via SMS, but lately i have not being able to receive any code at all ...

Assume conclusion: I thought that maybe the software maybe be too outdated or something pertaining to not being able to get any code ...

So i download the latest version 4.8, only to find out thats its not a executable installer, more of a local directory installation process ... so i download a server (XAMPP) and have apache and MySql up and running ...

Problem 2: i have setup a database in phpmyadmin and successfully installed wordpress and configured but how i setup or login with the wordpress account i always have being using ???

your methods/opinions are greatly appreciated ...

Hello,
Go to phpmyadmin, find wp_users table, edit your admin accounts password and replace it via your new passwords' MD5 encrypted version. After that you can login with your new password

Further to this, unless I'm very much mistaken, I believe the default password column (In the aforementioned table) Is named ""user_pass".

No need to touch the data type being VARCHAR(255).

Thanks mothered and Altair for replying ...

Wordpress.com is hosting my blog ...

This is the website i created with the account ... https://tekxplorerblog.wordpress.com i want to get back in this account and administer the site, i can get back in when i try to login through the desktop API and online but as i said the 2FA is enable on it and am not receiving any verification code via SMS anymore its saying something about (verification code generated by your Authenticator mobile application) ... i use to use google authenticator app but not anymore (phone hardbrick) so i download it back on my new Asus Zenfone but nothing is there anymore ...

so i either try get back in this way or how i try login in through the xampp ... even tho its on my localhost ...

What baffles me the most, is that i don't know why i stop getting verification code in the first place or what cause it ???

i am looking at there support forum but no luck, it makes no sense i sign in, cause i cant get no verification code and the live chat is for paid users only ...

Is there anything on your cell phone (apps or otherwise) that's blocking Incoming verification codes? Have you tried to receive the code from another handset via a different carrier?

I Don't have any app that could be blocking this, and no i haven't try another phone and i currently have one number from my carrier (Digicel) but i as i said before this was working, so its must be from wordpress end ... the part that's more annoying is that i can't get into contact with them, they have no number or Email address ...

there are ways to get back in, through my email ... they have email me some stuff activation link and backup codes but i search through my email but i can't seem to find anything ... i make a special folder in my email for important things like this but nothing ... DEAD END

I don't know if there is something like this for Wordpress, but I remember when my 2FA wasn't working anymore on my Joomla website, I could reset it directly in PHPMyAdmin and disable it as well.

I do think that there is an option for this in WP.
~~ Might be back? ~~

Okay so have you tried to "disable" 2FA via Wordpress Itself, whereby for authentication purposes, an SMS will be generated to the cell phone associated with the account?

In other words, can you receive SMS verification when "disabling" 2FA?

If your website is runnig under wordpress.com you can not access to swl server like Phpmyadmin. You should have password reset by email option don't you? Else you better mail to wordpress support.
