Windows Screenshotting #1
So one of my employees asked me this today and at first I thought he was an idiot. He wanted to know what program I used to take screenshots, because all of the documentation I write never has the extra junk on the screen. And then I started thinking most people don't take screenshots on a regular basis and, if they do, they have very basic knowledge of how it works.

The print screen button is used to capture your screen and send it to the clipboard. If you use it by itself it captures your entire desktop across all of your screens. If you use the alt modifier with the button it captures only the active window. I also use a browser plugin called Awesome Screenshot to make it a lot more powerful to narrow down web pages without the browser trim and focus in on specific elements.

The point of the post was that resized fullscreen caps look ugly with unnecessary border trim or excess image area that doesn't belong to the focus area.
