Obviously It can still be used beyond EOL, but without Windows/security updates and fixes, of which I haven't performed In 15 years and never will.

No Issues whatsoever.

Another reason for me not to install Windows 11: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/10/...-amd-says/

And the latest update made that performance impact even more severe: https://www.slashgear.com/windows-11-fir...-14695263/

I don't blame you for not wanting to upgrade to Windows 11.

That's a significant decrease In performance, that would discourage many users.

Damn I thought those were pretty essential. I guess if you are careful enough and don't fuck up in the first place those aren't really needed.

I need to get into the habit of hardening my windows partition, since right now I am as good as naked.

In some aspects it is good (I like the appearance compared to Windows 10), but the fact that it is a functional downgrade just makes things feel cumbersome and vexing.

These two features made 11 the winner for me:

Layouts and multiple desktops are a big improvement.

Many users rely on Windows updates to secure their PC, but I personally find It useless.

I have better things to do, than losing all sessions due to an update reboot and having to wait for the BS message of "Working on updates 15% complete do not turn off your computer". I apply my own security measures, and my systems have been running at their optimal state for close to 15 years.

After creating a bootable USB stick, I've just finished Installing the official release of Windows 11 on one of my main PCs.

I must say, It's a lot better than what I anticipated. It will take a little time to adapt to Its GUI, features and options but so far, so good.

The Good:
  • UI effects are better - rounded corners, background blur on context menus, etc.
  • Icon set is cleaner - crisper and more appealing, with a pop
  • New task view is great - helpful for managing a bunch of processes

The Weird:
  • Everything is centered - including taskbar icons and the lockscreen clock, doesn't fit some wallpapers
  • Start menu has been modified - 11's start menu gets rid of some of the quirks of 10, but brings its own as well
  • Reminds me of Ubuntu's newer UI - might have been 10 years ago, but Ubuntu had modernized their UI

The Bad:
  • They force you to use a Microsoft account initially -  swapping to a local account takes some poking around, creepy
  • Settings and menus have been moved/rearranged - certain menus and settings have been removed or relocated, awkward
  • TPM 2.0 must be enabled for installation - if your motherboard/BIOS is non-compliant it's unsupported, annoying
Oh man, i totally agree... i can say that that TPM 2.0 wasn`t a issue for my main pc...also for may laptop but the thing is that Windows 11 only accept intel older than 10k series and this sucks. My i5 7th gen laptop is not meeting the minimum req for upgrade and that sucks ...

microsoft is going to force us to use it anyways and the performance of it is questionable at best, so ill stick with windows 10 for now
