Yeah, the site is down often as of recently, unfortunately. I was suggesting hide tags because of leechers, we'll have to see where that goes.

It will incite leechers to make an account to leech, aggravating the problem.

There's fors and against, hence may or may not work depending on the Individual.

Also, having content displayed helps Google's bots crawl and Index pages. This Is helpful for sites that don't generate too much activity. Personally, I like to view the content (or at least some) prior to making a decision whether to register.
Others may have different views.

I personally think that we should opt out of crawlers. The fact that we even appear on Google is shit and encourages leechers.
I believe sites that grow from word of mouth to be a lot more comfy. But hey, that's just my opinion. This site is pretty well maintained anyway.
Listen to everything, believe nothing

I've offered the idea of hide tags in the past. Depends on if it is wanted.

A large portion is word of mouth when it comes to us. Biggrin

Yeah that's how I heard of this site. Just remove us from search engines. Isn't it as simple as editing the robots.txt? I dunno much about running a site, but it should be pretty straight forward and it might cut off a lot of those leechers (and then technically, by the standard definition, sinister.ly would be on the deep web).

Would the hide tags only be for guests, or for registered members as well?

Assuming this would be added, regular users would try to refrain from posting in the ebooks and tutorials section to maintain a "non-leecher" reputation. (Simply view post-activity)

The next thing someone would suggest sooner or later, would be a feature for users with a specific upgraded rank or higher to let them view hidden content without having to post.

Just a side note, the Platinum and Diamond rank could need a few more perks.

Do I want it? If it's good for SL, sure.

It's been a while since you asked this and no one replied, so I'll just answer.

I presume it will require registered members to reply on the thread before being able to view the hidden content.

As of right now, guests are only allowed to view 5 threads, then will be prompted (and have to) register to view another thread, without cheating that is.

I thought as much, just wanted clarification. Thanks for that.

If that's the case, just for the purpose of viewing the content, It'll entice LQ posting. I've seen It on many forums and It puts a negative Impact on the forum as a whole.

This would be the most likely scenario.
