I feel like computers and coding has just been a predominantly male sector. But more girls are getting into the field. Most are rather eccentric lol.

@flawed made a good point - sort of - which leads me to point out

I said that the number of skilled females I know are about the same as the number of skilled males i know - but the fact is I know very few unskilled females in the aforementioned community. Where-as I know for a fact that there are hundred's of thousands of males online right now wanting to be a hacker lol.

There is a significant divide in that respect. Come to think of it, most of the women I know are university educated with degree's as well... so it may simply be a matter of different learning/education choices. Where as the best male hackers I know personally, maybe only 1 in 4 or 5 are university educated.

Being a hacker doesn't require you to have any degree as far as I know.
At least your computer isn't going to ask you about degree pappers before let you do your things.
