Who Is the Most Overrated Person in History? #1
I know of some, but I will start this topic off with someone popular - Adolf Hitler.

Sure everyone kens he is malevolent, but somehow he gets credit for being an economic and military genius.

He was not. He fugged up the German economy while exhibiting short-term profit doing an economic equipollent of slaughtering 100% of cows on a milk farm. Then he wagered by invading neighbouring countries to plunder them and make up the shortfall of the German economy. This wager held up only for so long and ineluctably his bluff was called.

Nothing genius or perspicacious about any of this.

Fascination with serial killers, in general, is very strange to me.

We are discussing who the most overrated people are in history, not events.

I'd be inclined to say Christopher Columbus. It's often misstated that he was responsible for discovering the Americas, whereas the original discoverer was actually Leif Erikson. Adding to the hilarity, Columbus referred to the natives of the Americas as Indians because he thought he'd landed in India. Originally he was in search of a trade route for Indian/Asian silks/spices. Amerigo Vespucci doesn't tend to get talked about as much either.

go figure, the one who wants to comment and discuss hitler didn't like obama.

he was a president though thats like me saying "trump was never important" it makes no sense to the conversation and clearly just showing my bias.

I think you're jumping ahead and making a lot of assumptions.
I never said I don't like Obama- I'm not sure why you're bringing Trump into this. Also being over/underrated doesn't equate to importance.
In fact, I'd have voted Obama. He's far better than Trump.

Also, I'm not sure what you're trying to imply regarding me "discussing" Hitler. You're either claiming I support Hitler, or claiming people shouldn't talk about Hitler. Both scenarios point out your ignorance.

Judging by your impulsive response to my comment, along with the fact that you're already bringing parties into it which shows you've made assumptions about my political beliefs, I pity you. You could've asked for elaboration on why I think Obama is overrated, instead you went for the senseless cheap shots. There's plenty of other platforms you can do this on- I'd recommend twitter or reddit.

My only advice, calm down.

That's a pretty good one. I imagine it's more prevalent in the US too as I'm sure you're taught lots about it in school.

One could argue Guy Fawkes is overrated. We have an entire night celebrating the fact he didn't blow up parliament. It's literally called Guy Fawkes night, even though there were many people involved in the plot. Also, they did it because they were being persecuted over their religious beliefs.
While nowadays that celebration is more focused on us celebrating our democratic society (and is mostly just an excuse to eat hotdogs and watch fireworks), it's still a pretty questionable event all based on this one guy.
Same guy: look at the guy fawkes/v for vendetta mask and how it's used today, with the association of anonymous.

I think you've quite seriously misunderstood that post and started immediately making judgements. Slow down, consider another perspective and read the post properly.

It is a common joke that Hitler was rejected from art school, and it's suggested if that hadn't happened, then maybe WW2 wouldn't have happened.
