I have a husky. Never even tried to run, even with the doors open lol. Have to say he got neutered when he got to the right age tho.
Always had dogs, but a husky is by far my favorite. But those hangover walks....... -_-

I also have a husky, but that's total nightmare, he's totally uncontrollable, even though I really love my mate. He's been away and out for 5 times, I guess, but always returning all dirty and happy that he "walked around" a lil bit, crazy dog

For protection or companionship? or both
Protection; Rottweiler, German shepherd
Companionship; Rottweiler, German shepherd, Labrador retrievers,
Both; Literally any of the aforementioned breeds
Any dog can be a guard dog, or a companion, or both, but these are the ones I've had experience with
Existence
Is
Relative

I strongly suggest a Bichon Frise and a pug, as your finical constraints a smaller dog would be cheaper and easier to train, however beware dogs can be expensive. Take into account food every month, grooming, showers, toys, puppy taring, and don't get me started on vet visits and shots. Look into how much money youll need for each breed.

I think that the German Shepherd is the smartest breed of dogs
