mnemon, all this bumping is just beginning to get to spam in my opinion. If people want to vote, they will vote, but it usually gets to the bottom of the thread search queue for a reason, and probably because most people might not be interested in this thread as much as others. It's also unfair for newer threads to get bumped below this thread that isn't really doing much anyway. Say that thread was from a person asking for help too, it definitely wouldn't do them any favors to have to bump their thread to keep it above threads like this which are bumped continuously.
