Where do you think technology will be in 20 years? #1
So over the last 20 years or so we've seen a massive leap forward in technology.

When i was in my teens a thought of a 5GHZ processor seemed insane, now my pc runs at 4.5 GHZ I never thought anything remotely close to 5ghz would be seen in my life time yet here we are.

I think the future will be something really crazy like when we start implanting more things into our body (There's already RFID tags you can put under your skin and the way prosthetic limbs are going i can see limbs being replaced for superior ones)

I think it would be limited. We humans all have the knowledge to do anything we want. If we want we can cure all diseases, fly to Jupiter or run computers with a TB of ram smaller than a nail.

It is possible, but it will take many, many years. I think that money limits the human knowledge. If everything was free and everyone would work together we would probably have a lot more technology than we have now.

I think it's the need to do it though, the need to compete etc.

I read somewhere that the reason why Europe is so developed is because we were constantly warring so we needed better weapons etc, like they say War is bad but it's great for science.

I agree, but what if not all countries would compete, but work together? Wouldn't that give as result that the weapons would be twice as good? The way I see it the competing is not good for Technology. When phones where invented it became faster and easier to call. Now there is almost nothing new anymore.

It's just IPhone1 Iphone2 IPhone3 and so on... with each time a better processor, but than comes the question. Is that really something new? Is it really an improvement in technology? My father often said, you can't invent the wheel twice, you can improve it, but it can never be re-invented.

While that's very true working together wouldn't benefit much because companies wouldn't put more money into improving technology to beat the next? I know you said about it being free but then it becomes pointless to work because if you don't have to work to earn money to buy food and food is free then why would anyone want to be the farmer? You know? Why would they want to work 40hrs+ when someone else works 20?

It's not about profit mate. You know if everyone would just solve all problems than nobody would have to work. If we had enough technology for an unlimited food supply, unlimited water supply and unlimited energy than everyone could just live not work. Just do whatever they want to do. Only jobs that would be needed than was some law-keepers and doctors and that's it.

What I'm trying to say is, if we all tried to work together and just solve every problem together than there would be no war, no hunger, no earth disasters. It would all be solved you know?

ah yeah i understand now what you mean Smile that would be utopia haha but somehow I think there will always be drama and conflict out of natural human greed, you know? But hey who knows where we will be socially in 20-30 years time?

I agree with that, greed is embedded in our DNA but as you know people evolve, DNA changes, maybe someday it will just appear and all people will see what matters Smile but it's hard to predict overall, there can be a random nuclear war tomorrow and we're back at the stone age. A lot can happen, or nothing can happen you know.

I agree, either way it will be interesting to find out, I wonder what will happen as far as wearable technology will go? I mean I can imagine safety applications but what about other uses?

Probably in a few years you don't even have to buy clothes anymore, you can change any moment with just a tap on the screen of your smart watch. There are a lot of inventions that I think "What the hell did they create now..." but in the end an invention is an invention and there might be someone who creates something usefull out of it.
