What the reputation system is. 06-12-2016, 07:05 AM

I've written this clarification for some people because apparently reputation matters to them just so much.
Some people think that the reputation system is the only thing that determines what people think of you. Well, nope.
The reputation system's purpose is to give users the ability to submit their opinions on other users.
Just to clear what an "Opinion" is defined as;
An opinion is a belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty, and an opinion is also a personal view, attitude, or appraisal.
In one's case, there isn't a need for one to cry about a negative reputation s/he has been given, it's just their opinion on you and they submitted it on you, making threads and "drama" about it will just make it worse for you and them and you'll just see a negative-train coming right into your face.
Everyone has opinions and views of others, so you shouldn't be mad at all just because someone gave you a negative opinion, you should kind of be "thankful" to that user for giving their opinion on you which you can use to correct that thing and make yourself better. Simple, huh? By fixing yourself, you're helping yourself and the other user; and that user's negative on you will/might turn into a positive.
By someone posting their negative opinion on you, if the thing you've done is really negative, take the opinion as a warning; as something that tells you to fix your attitude, as something that tells you to be better. Not just an opinion from someone who randomly hates you which causes you to make drama all about it, all opinions have a reason, whether jealousy, hate, love or experience.
And to write a conclusion to it; the reputation system should never matter to you in any way. The reputation system is just a system, can be used to submit fake or true opinions, but at the same time, if someone hates you and you have 20 positives, their view won't change of you because of that and vice versa.
People judge/rate you depending on your personality, attitude, actions, etcetera, not just a reputation system that can be abused in any ways.
At at the end, you won't really get negative opinions for no reason, if you want to state your point/opinion somewhere then do it in a respectful way because most people get butthurt about having someone whose point/opinion is different than theirs but state it in a disrespectful way.
And people are entitled to opinions. If people abuse reputation, I trust that the descriptions of their reputations will be enough to make it clear that they're being idiots. Moreover, I believe that the community will play their part in giving negative reps to those who deserve it. In the end, the abuse will cancel itself out. You and your friends negative rep me, me and my friends will negative rep you. More still, I'm sure that people will begin to realize the subjectivity of reputation and will not pay it too close attention when judging the quality of a user; but will use it to guide them in making informed decisions.
