regarding the wireless card stuff? Lemme take a look, I remember seeing a table somewhere that talked about options.

A quick google search turns up this http://www.amazon.com/Tp-Link-Tl-Wn722N-...B002SZEOLG

That shit is cheap, and supposedly supports packet injection for deauth and monitor mode.

There may be better options though. This blog post from 2013 is using the wireless card I linked above and explains the process

My apologies, you've mentioned that already and I neglected to read It.

In terms of a wireless card, @roger_smith has made some great recommendations. With regards to what system (PC), as mentioned, you don't need anything with superior specs. You've posted your budget (1000$ at the max), so just look for one that offers best value for money.

If you need assistance with what's considered as good value for money, just let us know.

Would it be possible to help me right away and just find one as I am not confident that I am good enough to evaluate what's good and bad

There are 4 major metrics (In no particular order) you probably want to consider:

1. RAM
2. CPU
3. Graphics
4. Storage

RAM - The more RAM the better. I would aim for at least 8GB minimum - 16GB would be better.

CPU - More cores are probably better for this application. Some applications may not take full advantage, but it will benefit those that do.

Graphics - GPU's these days are often used for password cracking and shit like that. So you want one with a decent GPU and a decent amount of memory. I'd probably go with nvidia for this.

Storage - You'll want a decent amount of storage. Password lists and dictionaries can take of lots of room. I'd also recommend SSD for speed.

Based on the above - the following is probably the best laptop you can buy for under 1k (off amazon) - but they're used. http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Y50-UHD-Lap...7817225011

If you want new - the best I could find was probably http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-i755...2224371011 but takes a big hit on the hardware vs above.

Kali and other pentesting distros are excellent learning and security tools but they are inherently complex (and therefore potentially dangerous if misused).  The best thing for you to do is to wait for your build and study hardware, software, and all other forms of human and engineering logic.  When I was a very young person a scientist told me something I never forgot: "Young chemists focus on exothermy and catecholamines, but the wisest understand that the things we build here are tools in the truest sense...".  That being said, at this point in your development it would be a more productive use of your resources and time to study the forms, styles, and mentalities of the masters who occupy the intergridwebnet or whatever we call this place now.  To my sensibilities you want to fly but have not fully learned how to crawl yet.   Even after a lifetime of doing this stuff I think of the virtual connected world as an environment with exactly the same perils as the physical plane our bodies occupy, and this attitude has been formed by decades of watching my friends get arrested, imprisoned, and [metaphorically] crucified because their curiosity outweighed their prudence.  Best of luck, friend.

P.s. for the love of god, please do not install your KALI images without verifying your checksums (since you don't seem like the type to compile from source)

Regards,
Polyflo
