Why would any manufacturer do such a thing?

corporate moves. so they can sell units with higher cap..for 10x more money... these companies deserve to be SEd on a daily basis to balance out their greed

My only complaints with SEing these companies, is who it impacts. I highly doubt it hurts the shareholders or top decision makers responsible. It more than likely gets passed onto workers at lower levels, with staff cut backs/redundancies when the profit isn't looking as pretty. There's never "no" impact from SEing.
