There's no joke, he was a great friend and he is actually deceased. His wife has also been here a number of years and she is also technologically adept.

Don’t worry. Death, since it’s not something we experience daily ourselves, especially with someone close to us can be awkward. I also sometimes don’t have appropriate reactions to this and it’s just going to take a while.
