I have serious insomnia. Ive been having problems sleeping since I was in high school at the age of 16. Im 21 now and its starting to get just as bad.
Is there any opinions or suggestions on what I can do to help me sleep?

You're not alone, I too, have Issues falling asleep and It's because my mind Is always active and never at rest.
A friend of mine who's a psychologist, recommended to think of something really boring when lying In bed. An example was to count backwards from 100, by drawing It (100) on a blackboard, rubbing It out and then write 99 and keep repeating the process with every figure. Believe It or not, It helps me fall asleep more often than not.

There is a product called ZMA which is Zinc and Magnesium mix (with right ratios) that works well. This is used in the fitness world. Weirdly enough as well taking B vitamins before bed can help, although they are used for energy, also help with sleep. I would personally go with ZMA first.
There is a more advanced method that has been used for people with insomnia which is researched by Steve Gibson (he's weirdly a security researcher) - google healthy sleep forumula
Seems to follow some lines of ZMA, but also added items to help you go off to sleep in the first instance.

The only thing that allows me to sleep safely and deeply is to feel my wife next to me. I recently realized that falling asleep alone has become a big problem for me. Neither a large warm blanket nor hot cocoa can replace the warmth of a loved one's touch.

I'd recommend talking to your doctors about it too. There's plenty of things that can cause insomnia.
