Beats suck.

Yeah, I only mentioned them as many think they're "good", but I've had a pair but their trash for their price, too much branding and hype.

Got a pair of Advanced M4 IEM's recently and i've really liked them. The memory foam is great, love the braided cables (never had them tangle on me) and the sound is awesome (at least, imo).

Me too, I've never owned a good pair of headphones.

I see a lot of people with (what appears to be) a good set of headphones on public transport, but It's not my nature to ask strangers their thoughts. I've always wanted a nice set and this thread has some excellent feedback. I'll certainly take a lot of what's said under advisement.
EDIT: Info added.

For overall quality and price range I'd have to say the skull candy crushers. They have a very good bass output and for only £30 you cannot go wrong.

The problem is, alot of the headphones you see around AREN'T good. I see so many people with beats and cringe every time.

M4 Advanced are pretty great and with more balanced sound, also for the same price.

+ You get braided cables Tongue

As a sidenote, (and because i'm a total nub) what's the core difference between IEM earbuds and other earbuds?

True.

I suppose unless you experience It audibly, appearance can be deceiving.
