Apart from being exhausted, the smell of paint remained for over a month which was rather unpleasant.

I definitely recommend using a respirator or some sort.There Is (supposed to be) odourless oil-based paint In my locality and although It's not as strong as normal paint, It still leaves a smell that's quite unpleasant.
