What are the best Linux desktop environments themes? #1
I have been jumping from one theme to another and have enjoyed many and I am looking for more and hopefully one that I can settle with. It would be appreciated if you recommend themes that go well with Cinnamon.
With Love,
Shel.

A while ago, I saw a guide made by LinuxScoop about customizing various things within Cinnamon. He used a theme called Orchis, which, despite being rather simple, I thought was pretty elegant.
If it's icons we're talking about, then candy icons combined with sweet folders is my favorite by far Smile

Those are the same ones used by Garuda Linux right?

Interesting coincidence Biggrin
I love the end result with your desktop, however! It looks really neat, especially with the wallpaper, which fits pretty well imo. Have you considered theming Firefox as well? As it is, it looks like a bit of a false note on the image you sent Tongue Still love the desktop tho! xD

They're similar for sure, but not quite the same. You can notice that some icons are different, like Firefox or Spotify.
I didn't know Garuda Linux used an icon theme like that, though. Every distribution I've come across so far just uses default icons.

If you're looking for themes, there's two places I can recommend:
1) First is the "themes store" within Cinnamon itself. You can find it in the Add/Remove tab of the themes settings panel. I assume you already know about this one, but I still wanted to include it just in case Tongue
2) The r/unixporn subreddit. To be fair, a lot of the posts don't even include an actual desktop environment, but there's a few Cinnamon posts occasionally. And in my experience, you can always take away some stuff, even if the post is about a different DE.
Alternatively you can just search Cinnamon in the subreddit and get a bunch of results xD

Thanks alot! I appreciate the compliment but no matter how perfect it is I still get urges to switch themes XD. I know that thee is a Firefox theme bundled with Orchis but I used it and it I don't think it really changes things. Plus, I stopped using Firefox, it used to run smoothly but now it just runs so bad. On that screenshot, you can see me using Brave but I also switched away from it because Brave and Chromium started to show issues like not downloading files and not being able to import photos to a website. I now use Opera and it runs very smoothly so far, I also love the separate environment kind of vibe. I use OperaGX on Windows 10 so I just signed in wit my OperaSync account and boom everything is there. I just wish they make a version of OperaGX for Linux, I can't use opera without the background ambient music of OperaGX Sad

I think they do because they look so similar but I might be mistaken Yawn

1) I already know that but thanks for mentioning haha
2) I am joined to r/unixporn, it's very interesting but I think most posts don't mention the themes and stuff or at least that's from what I have experienced. I'll try to see more posts there, maybe I can find some cool desktop theme that can finally seal the persistent desktop theme switching deal once and for all! Biggrin

Thanks!!!!

Oh, it's Brave on the screenshot you included. I confused it with Firefox for some reason. My bad xD
I'm actually considering moving away from Firefox as well cause it runs pretty bad on my pc as well. I'm not sure why, but at this point it can't even load a Twitch stream or a Youtube video without CPU usage spiking to 100%. I think I might try Ungoogled Chromium or Opera next. It's a shame there is no OperaGX on Linux, or I probably would've picked it as my main browser from the start Tongue

They do look very similar indeed. But it's two different icon themes. Garuda Linux uses BeautyLine I'm pretty sure, not Candy Icons.

I don't think anything can seal the theme switching, to be honest. It's like distro hopping; it just comes with being a Linux user, no way around it Tongue
I personally loved exploring r/unixporn. That subreddit was my introduction to a lot of the common Linux concepts like tiling window managers, icon themes...etc. Definitely a cool place for discovering new things, even if some posts are just pain because the OP forgets to include the details of their desktop xD
